The concept of feedback not part of the dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE ). However, a term appears in the publication that is usually used in an equivalent manner: feedback , which is used to name the return of a part of the output of a system or circuit to its own input .
We can determine, in addition to what has been stated so far, that it is a term that has its origin in Latin, since it is made up of different components of that language:
-The prefix "retro-", which means "backwards".
-The verb "alere", which can be translated as "consume" or "nurture."
-The component "-mentum", which is used to indicate "medium" or "result".
-The suffix "-cion", which is used to record the existence of an "action and effect".
Feedback or feedback assumes, therefore, that a proportion of what comes out is redirected to the input . This allows to regulate the behavior and control the system in question.
It is possible to notice the feedback in the computing , the architecture , the engineering , the biology and the economy , among other areas. In general, it can be said that the feedback implies that the signal that comes out returns to its origin and then, after an analysis that allows different adjustments to be made, to exit again.
Feedback can be understood as a process or a mechanism that contemplates the movement of a signal inside a system. The return of the signal at its entrance is called feedback loop .
Feedback also appears in the process of communication . In this case, it is formed by the immediate reactions of the receiver in front of a message: these reactions reach the sender through different means and allow an adjustment in the communication.
We can take an example of feedback in the workplace. The manager of marketing He informs the employees in his area that he has an idea to develop a certain campaign. After communicating the project, he asks them to analyze it and, on the following day, make a refund: that is, they tell him what they think, what they would change, etc. A day later, in this way, employees provide their contributions to the manager. This is how feedback is produced, since the manager takes these new ideas and modifies his campaign project.
In terms of feedback, it is important to also know a series of relevant data or issues that record its process, its operation and its importance:
-The person who launches a message, what is called a sender, uses it to know if his words have had an effect, to know if he has achieved the goals that had been marked in this regard and based on the results follow by the marked channel or directly change it.
-On the other hand, the recipient of the message must know that thanks to the feedback you can proceed to influence the sender conveniently by exposing your point of view or your opinion about an aspect in question.
-In an indisputable way if a correct use and management of what is mentioned is carried out, significant benefits will be achieved, communicatively speaking, both for the sender and the receiver.
-It is also known by the Anglo-Saxon name of “feedback”.
